United States to Canada to England
May 19th, 2015 — I am writing this from Gate C30 in Terminal 3 at Toronto Pearson International Airport. My flight was initially scheduled to depart this evening at 9:40, however, storms in London delayed the plane getting to Toronto so I am now scheduled to takeoff at 10:52. So sad. Thankfully, I was greeted by a nice British Airways employee at bag drop and that made things better. Also, I’m listening to concert videos of Ed at the moment so that’s obviously wonderful as well. I advise everyone to watch (or at the very least listen) to my “Give Me Love” video from Ed’s Pittsburgh show (or should I say, gig?)! I am still madly obsessed with it.
Padre Z drove me to Toronto so that we could save lots of money on tickets. It cost just over $750 (including ticket insurance) to travel nonstop round-trip from Toronto to Heathrow compared to the $2000 it would have cost from Detroit. #bargain Plus, this way I can fly British Airways instead of Delta. I’ve only heard good things about British Airways so I hope it lives up to the hype!
If anyone is terribly bored they can track my flight. It’s British Airways 98. I’ll be set to land around 10:45 am London time (aka 5:45 am EST).
Once I get to Heathrow and pass through customs, a car should be waiting for me and my friend, Katy, to take us to our flat! We are living in Camden, which is supposed to be an amazing area! It still hasn’t hit me that within 11 hours I will be in LONDON, ENGLAND! Wow. I never imagined that I would be studying abroad but I am so glad and grateful for the opportunity!
Not sure when I will be blogging again. Should be soon but I don’t know how strong the wifi signal will be in my flat. I might need to find an adorable little coffee shop in Camden to write from. Based on my previous Google searches, it shouldn’t be too terribly hard. I hope that I am the proud owner of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone the next time I write! 🙂
